According to Rachel Maddow, all the nasty personal crap written about Sarah Palin's kids was deserved because Palin was shamelessly using her own children for "political gain." So it was Palin's own fault that her kids became fair game to be smeared by the liberal press, left-wing political bloggers, and lefty talk-show hosts. One of the more egregious examples of Palin's exploitation of her own children, as spotlighted by Maddow on her MSNBC program, was when Palin spoke in praise of her son's decision to enlist in the army and of his subsequent deployment to Iraq.
