Rocinha houses 200,000 of Rio's poorer residents. But the ocean views are to die for. The favela is bookmarked on one side by Ipanema and Leblon, among the nation's richest suburbs, and on the other by a mountain stretching into the ocean where house prices start at $US3 million. In some places the gap between the mansions and one-room shanties is not 100m.
