Costa Rica Breaks Diplomatic Ties with Taiwan after 60 Years

I have vacationed twice in Costa Rica but never again. Apparently foreign investment by every Canadian or American with an extra $250, 000 in his pocket is not sufficient for this eco-tourist destination with no standing army and free health care. Never mind that most of the prime beach-front property in Costa Rica is already owned by Americans and Canadians.

Costa Rica's President Oscar Arias has announced that his country has broken diplomatic ties with Taiwan after 60 years and formed relations with China.

The switch leaves Taiwan with just 24 allies, compared to China's 170.
